I saw this at the McGee Rd. exit to the TransCanada Highway in Gander, Newfoundland. I'm not sure who this memorial is for, but they must be missed

Rex Pearson was tall and very good looking.
He was an avid photographer, won numerous awards.
He was the founder of the local photographic society and hundreds of photographers over many years were happy to be his students.
He developed dementia few years ago and the condition progressed very rapidly. Yet, he attended every single club meeting (his wife of over 40 years would bring him to the meetings), he would sit on a chair with a big smile, most of the time not knowing what was going on.
Rex died two hours ago. Before his death his family discussed what he would have wished if he knew what was happening. They thought he would have loved aftab to certify him dead.
I was not on duty today. Hospital called me at home and asked me if I could come and certify his death. The family will be honored.
I did.
Rex, I never knew you loved me so much. You never taught me anything because you thought I knew everything. But you taught me something today. You taught me how to honor a photographer and a friend. Today, you honored me with the best award I will ever receive in photography.
Rex was 83.

Turns out that taking a break, grabbing Xeriscape, and making Charlie model it for me is an instant blues-lifter. My little (well, not-so-little) ray of sunshine. <3
I think I need to only do projects that coordinate with his coloring from now on. heh. Lorna's Laces Honor in Patina is totally his color, is it not? :)

I really wish I had a good overhead shot of this table, since it was the main one. Unfortunately, the chair I was standing on didn't seem all that steady and I didn't want to fall and break myself/my camera/the china/the table/the chair. So no decent overhead shots.
